What we do
We support democratic development of the trade union movement in Africa, Asia, Latin America, MENA, and Eastern Europe.
We are rooted in the values of the trade union movement along with national and global networks.
How we work
We contribute to creation of decent jobs, workers' rights, social protection, and social dialogue.
We work determined within the ILO's Decent Work Agenda and strengthen the capacity of the local trade union movement, so that trade union organisations in developing countries can contribute to sustainable growth and employment.
Our story, short
DTDA was established in 1987 by the two largest trade union confederations, LO og FTF (now merged to FH)
In the beginning, the activities were about solidarity work to remove the apartheid regime in South Africa and support the banned South African national confederation COSATU. We supported the projects through the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the global trade unions. DTDA - The Trade Union Development Cooperation is today the Danish trade union movement's professional development organisation with 15 employees in Denmark as well as Danish advisers and locally employed staff around the world. Over the years we have been named the Trade Union Council for International Development Cooperation, LO/FTF Council, and Ulandssekretariatet - DTDA. Today our official name in Danish is DTDA - Fagbevægelsens Udviklingssamarbejde. Globally, we are known as DTDA - Danish Trade Union Development Agency.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals
DTDA contributes to the fullfilment of the SDGs.
We focus on 4 goals in particular:
1. No poverty
5: Gender equality
8: Decent work and economic growth
10: Reduced indequalities
The Labour Market Consortium
DTDA is part of the Danish Labour Market Consortium
DTDA is part of the Danish Labour Market Consortium with 3F - United Federation of Danish Workers and DI - Confederation of Danish Industry. Together, we have a strategic partnership agreement with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in total we are working in 35 countries. The Labour Market Consortium is based on social dialogue and The Danish Model where employers and trade unions are capable of negotiating and making agreements on workers' rights and framework conditions that gives a conducive labour market with industrial peace, sustainable production, responsible businesses, and social protection.
